i'm in love with a younger man
meet lucas. isn't he a babe? i LOVE him. he's brand new, so he smells like it and is super cuddly. i was in heaven.
we went to visit erk's cousin and his family (including mama shim, aunt B/vicky, baby luke, and big brudder evan). it pretty much made my week and i think erick's too; he seemed to thoroughly enjoy showing a toddler how to feed stuffed animals crayons. goooood. we can't wait to have one (read: a dozen) of our own!

cabin fever
first of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my baby brother! i can't believe ty is 15!

i love this picture of him.
in other news, i think it's safe to say we're ready for spring. it turns out columbus is just as depressing as bowling green in the winter...except that this year i'm not writing a thesis...so i've got that going for me. kidding, i love my life.
when the bitter coldness let up last weekend, i went for a run/walk (okay, so i ran to like one stop sign and convinced myself i "ran"). anyway, later that day i was experiencing some severe sinus-related pain. turns out i was basically breathing in poison. ughhh allergies.
so this week i developed sinusitis, completely lost my voice, and now i have an annoying cough that erick is really loving. sometimes i think he feels like ethan frome, married to a crabby, sickly woman. only we don't eat doughtnuts, pickles, and meat pie for dinner.
so this weeked we decided to get out and went to the mall all day for a date. it was super fun, and we bought some great stuff. i even almost bought a jean shirt. true story: my entire family wore different shades of denim shirts in a family picture once. sometimes a little retail therapy is all you need.
oh yeah, and erick actually said, "i think i'm ready for a wedding or something!" whaaaaa??????

worst blogger ever.
i'm pretty bad at this blogging business. i mostly enjoy the stalking of blogs. (i.e. - i love to live vicariously through naomi.)
i'm really going to try to be better about WRITING. so here goes nothing...
i should probably start by telling you about my 24th birthday weekend. it was pretty epic. epic in that my sister-in-law and her husband met andie, erk, and i downtown columbus, and several of us (not andie, erk, or me) rode an electric bull! YEP, an electric bull. lucky for...the world...we got it all on tape. these are not your typical bull-riding-folk, my friends. michelle was even told my the bull engineer(?) that he'd never seen anyone stay on for that long. best. gift. ever.
***video coming soon. i'm experiencing technical difficulties.
i also got this gem in the mail from the dick allington (love of my life) fan club.

and i spent my actual birthday shopping, eating, and watching a movie with my sweet mom and little sister. bub and i ordered b-dubs for dinner. it's safe to say this was my favorite birthday yet. (i know i say that every year, but they seriously keep getting better!)
***and can i just say, I AM SO HAPPY for coopy and nile and elated that mo has a blog. my prayers have been answered ;)

we love you, MLK
we had a very busy, but very fun Martin Luther King weekend. wedding showers (and now baby showers) have officially taken over my life...along with bachelorette parties and weddings. but i really kind of love that, because it gives me an excuse to go home to see wonderful, old friends. i always forget how much i love, and after talking for 5 seconds, i remember.

i've got it pretty great.
he wakes up and makes me breakfast on his days off.
he scrapes the ice and snow off my car..correction, andie's car...and turns up the heat so it's nice and toasty when i leave for school.
he washes the dishes EVERY night.
and he settles for falling asleep with the light on so i can read.
i really hit the motherload with this boy :)

goodbye, 2009. you'll be missed.
2009 was a big year, a VERY BIG year. so much happened, good and bad. here's the rundown.
in january erick and i went back to bowling green and ohio state to finish our last years of graduate school. i procrastinated, then worked relentlessly...and FINALLY finished my thesis (it still hurts to say that word). i fell madly in love with MGDUBS, and erk man made some great friends as well. i turned 23.

i went to phoenix for a conference with some of my best friends, which was a wonderful adventure in itself. we celebreated literacy in the park (in the ballroom) with the krollster. MGDUBS reinacted the bader across town. erick turned 24. we graduated with masters degrees and finished planning our wedding.

my grandma passed away in june, and we still miss her terribly. i fortunately landed my first (real) job as a first grade teacher. we moved our stuff to hilliard and didn't work all summer :) we were married at the end of the month on the most magical day of my life and spent a week in puerto rico for our honeymoon. i got myself a boy roommate for life ;)

erick was hired as a high school conselor, and i got my classroom ready for the munchkins. many, many friends were married. we visited joey and brad in cincy and went to the great american ball park. we moved again to marysville and made our tiny apartment a home. we kissed summer goodbye and grew up a lot.

i learned to cook and made my husband dinner (almost) every night. we went to many-a-tailgates to cheer on the bucks. we went back to celina and coldwater most weekends. more friends got married, and kam and josh found out they were expecting their first baby.

we spent thanksgiving and christmas with our families and friends; they were our first holidays as a married couple, and we can't wait to do it every year, forever.

thanks for the memories. 2009 was definitely full of them. we are so exctied about 2010 and all the possibilities it brings. i can't wait to see what this year has in store for us. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
